Great Exhibition of the North 2018 - 22 June 2018 - 9 Sept 2018

The country’s biggest event in 2018, it will pack a programme of amazing exhibits, live performances, displays of innovation, new artworks and unforgettable experiences into 80 days.

The Exhibition will be the biggest event in England this year. It is free to attend and will tell the inspiring story of the North of England and how its innovators, businesses, artists and designers have shaped our present and are inspiring our future. Hosted in NewcastleGateshead, on behalf of Northern England, the event is expected to reach an audience of three million people, including more than one million visitors from across the UK and overseas.

Alongside the programme, other elements include entertaining and informative activities for families and a Business Summit to celebrate Northern innovation.

Enthusiasts Early Opening: It's Rocket Science at Discovery Museum - 29 Aug 2018to29 Aug 2018

A relaxed session for engine and railway enthusiasts. An opportunity to explore It’s Rocket Science an hour before opening to the general public, providing a quieter and more relaxed experience.

This exciting exhibit has been made possible thanks to money raised by National Lottery players through the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Fill the streets of Tyneside to watch the event on Sunday 9 September to watch the Great North Run and soak up the inspiring atmosphere. The event will also be broadcast live on the BBC.
